The Joy Formidable
The Joy Formidable have announced a new album and shared a NSFW video for its first single, “The Last Thing on My Mind.” Hitch is due out March 25 on the Welsh trio’s own label, C’Mon Lets Drift, in partnership with Caroline (US), Orchard/Membran (Europe), and MapleMusic (Canada). The album was self-produced by the band and recorded at The Red Brick studios in the Welsh hills. Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails) mixed the album. Below is the tracklisting and their upcoming tour dates.
As for the NSFW video for “The Last Thing on My Mind,” well it features lots and lots of butts. But don’t get too excited straight guys, they are all male butts (including Iggy Pop’s). So expect lots of male strippers. And considering how many music videos feature naked women, it’s probably only fair that some feature naked men too. Frontwoman Ritzy Bryan commented on the video in a press release, saying as much: “It’s a song about freedom, about feeling alive and a part of that is about sexual liberation too, which is why we wanted to make a music video from the perspective of a heterosexual female gaze. It shows men in many forms, being free, being sexy, being watched, it’s beautiful and provocative and is some small attempt to readdress the existing imbalance of perspective and nudity in music videos.”
