The Love Language on Their Forthcoming Album
Potential Release in Spring of 2013

The Love Language
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from The Love Language. As it turns out the band has been at work on a follow-up to 2010 album Libraries, but it might be awhile before we get to hear it.
Check out the full text of frontman Stuart McLamb’s open letter below:
this has been a long time coming, and though it feels strange to put it all out here, i feel there is much explaining to do on my part as to what is going on with the love language and this seems the best place to do it.
first of all, thanks to everyone who has supported the band the past few years. namely the show goers and fans, venues, promoters, warehouse art spacers, sound guys, publicists, booking agents, label, management, the forever inspiring artists and musicians we’ve met in town and in our travels, bubble gunners, tap dancers, and most importantly, friends. you know who you are. i do too.
it’s an understatement to say it’s been a tough year for me. in feb we tracked the bulk (90%) of what would be our 3rd album in our rehearsal space in raleigh, ruby red. it was one of the best if not the best times i’ve ever had creating music in my entire life. a full throttle, ever momentous race to our self imposed finish line of march 1st. before we knew it, our time was up and we had to head out on a tour we booked and to play the sxsw festival in austin, tx. basically the album was mostly tracked but still hadn’t been properly mixed. the remainder of the year has basically been spent trying to get the mix right. that’s insane. i know. it’s probably mostly my fault honestly.
but moving forward, plans have been made to finish the record with bj (who happens to be the badass who engineered the sessions and did the original mix) to finish it sometime in december, which is the soonest his schedule will allow. this will most likely push a release back to spring ‘13. (that’s an estimate, not official) i truly am excited about this record but i wasn’t ready to put it out as it was. i’m still getting used to this whole studio thing.
so these upcoming shows we have in november are mainly about getting back out there regardless. that’s always been the central spirit to my music. songs don’t come natural and i’m totally lost when i comes to recording and computers but i’ve always tried to do it anyways. so for these upcoming shows, no there’s no new album hash tags or publicity machine, but there is a band of old and new friends eager to play these songs for you again. and once this record is done being an asshole and decides to cooperate with the knobs and faders, we’ll be back out touring and visiting our friends across the country (and hopefully beyond).
speaking of the band, the love language has always been my baby and perhaps i have held it to close at times. friends have come and gone, each gracing the songs and arrangements with their own unique personality and thus making them come alive. you will most likely see changes in the lineup for the years to come but i like to think of it as a good thing. keeping the songs invigorated with new life and perspectives that i could never find on my own. friends will come and go but i’ll always be there, slightly off centered with a shit eating grin, relishing in the glorious mess i’ve made.
yours truly,
stu
