The National Frontman Lends Vocals to Grinderman Remix
'Grinderman 2' Drops on Record Store Day
Apr 13, 2011
Nick Cave
And this is why we love Record Store Day: The National frontman Matt Berninger is lending his smooth baritone vocals to another smooth baritone—Nick Cave. Berninger will be showcased on the Record Store Day release of a 12” single for “Evil,” a track off the Cave-led Grinderman album Grinderman 2. The record, which is reportedly covered in red glitter (just because), features a remix by Silver Alert (Grinderman’s Jim Sclavunos and Peter Mavrogeorgis) with Berninger’s deep yet silky vocals at the forefront. In total, there are four tracks included on the 12”; joining the Berninger remix is the original version of the song, an early demo recording, and a remix from Factory Floor.
NME is streaming the Silver Alert remix of “Evil” featuring Berninger here. If you like what you hear, make sure to wake up bright and early on Saturday, April 16—only 750 glittery copies of this exclusive 12” will be released.
