The New Pornographers have announced a new album, Whiteout Conditions, and shared its first single, “High Ticket Attractions,” via an interactive lyric video. Whiteout Conditions is due out April 7 on the band’s own Collected Works label, in partnership with Concord. Check out “High Ticket Attractions” below, followed by the album’s tracklist and cover art, as well as the band’s previously announced tour dates.
Whiteout Conditions is the follow-up to 2014’s Brill Bruisers. Chris Shier directed the interactive video for “High Ticket Attractions.”
Co-founder Carl Newman had this to say about the new album in a press release: “On other records it felt like sometimes it was very clear: oh, this is a fast one with me singing, and then the next would be a slow song with Neko [Case] singing. And I’ve always liked that in a White Album kind of way, being a band that just does whatever the hell they want from track to track. ‘Let’s try to give it a sound and see how focused we can make it.’ And on this record, I think we went a lot farther down that road.”
