In the years since Third Man Records established its base in Tennessee, Jack White‘s record store outpost has evolved into one of Nashville‘s most beloved destinations, expanding to include a recording studio and performance space called the Blue Room. No trip to the Music City is complete without taking home a stack of vinyl piled high as an order of table cakes from Pancake Pantry.
TMR has plenty to celebrate. From releasing over 600 albums, collecting GRAMMYs for 2013’s The Rise & Fall of Paramount Records, Vol. 1 (1917-2017) and hosting the likes of Radiohead, Beck and Neil Young (who recorded his 2014 album A Letter Home on the shop’s Voice-O-Graph, a renovated vinyl recording booth from 1947 available for visitors to lay their own tracks on), Jack’s little shop has done their part to revitalize the vinyl industry.
To commemorate their first decade, Third Man Nashville is hosting a celebration billed as “the anniversary bash that only comes around 10 times a century,” with an event we’ve been waiting for: a full blow-out in the parking lot across the street, featuring the return of The Raconteurs.
Last time The Raconteurs surfaced was a near-reunion during Jack’s Nashville stop at the Bridgestone Arena during the Lazaretto tour in 2015 which saw Brendan Benson and Jack Lawrence join White along with country legend Loretta Lynn for a surprise filled encore. Daru Jones, Jack’s drummer at the time, filled in for regular Raconteurs drummer Patrick Keeler. It wasn’t until last October the band announced they would be returning in 2019, 8 years since their last proper show.
The single-day mini-fest will feature 10+ performances across two stages. Acts announced to perform include Third Man mainstays like Llilie Mae, Teddy & The Rough Riders, The Dirtbombs, The Gories, Detroit Cobras, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Soledad Brothers, and Todd Albright, with announced special guests including recent Grammy nominee Margo Price and The Kills front-woman and The Dead Weather collaborator Alison Mosshart, along with Carla Azar, Joshua Hedley, Dave Buick and more.
Tickets go on sale March 15th via The Third Man website. General admission tickets will cost $75 and offer admission to the performances on the two main stages, access to merch, vendors and concessions, while $150 Ultra Tickets (available exclusively to members of the Third Man Vault fan club) also include early entry, priority access to performances in the Blue Room, a non-commercially available 7” record from The Raconteurs with artwork screen printed by the band, a test pressing or exclusive from Blackwell’s Closet, and entry into a raffle for a tour with Ben Blackwell and goodie grab bag.
