As previoiusly reported The Roots and Elvis Costello recently teamed up in the recording studio for a collaborative album. The finished work, titled Wise Up Ghost, will come Sept. 17 on Blue Note Records.
Recorded at Feliz Habitat Studios and Costello’s Crookery Studios, the album was produced by Roots bandleader Questlove, engineer Steven Mandel, and Costello. La Marisoul of the L.A. band La Santa Cecilia contributed vocals on a track called “Cinco Minutos Con Vos.” In an issued press release Questlove says the record is “a moody, brooding affair, cathartic rhythms and dissonant lullabies. I went stark and dark on the music, Elvis went HAM on some ole Ezra Pound shit.”
