Last Friday The Roots performed their new single “Dear God 2.0” with Jim James of My Morning Jacket on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. If the song sounds familiar, it’s because the original version appeared on the self-titled 2009 LP from Jim James’ Monsters of Folk super-group. Check out the performance below of this revamped version, which includes a full string orchestra, back up choir singers, and verses from Roots rapper Black Thought. An official music video for the song has also been released and you can also check out that video below (via Pitchfork).
“Dear God 2.0” will be in The Roots’ new album, How I Got Over, to be released June 22 and streaming on the band’s MySpace account now.
