Hopefully, The Thermals will play more of those new-fangled “Velvet Underground underwater” songs for West Coast audiences this September. We heard from bassist Kathy Foster that’s where the Portland “post-power-pop” trifecta are heading sonically on the follow-up to the still-very-fresh Now We Can See. Their third album still has some singles to squeeze out and the Portland rockers plan to do just that on August 25th. That’s the date to circle for the iTunes-only single, “We Were Sick.” It’s a hypothetical Bush-Cheney jerk-punk anthem (also see our interview) and will be saddled with the brand new B-side “Time Fell” and two demos, “When I Died” and “You Dissolve.”
We are also happy to report a small cache of tour dates around the band’s appearances at the F-Yeah Fest (now called FYF Fest?) and Monolith. All the dates are below.
