The Walkmen Head to Lisbon on New Album
Out September 14th on Fat Possum
Jun 17, 2010 The Walkmen
Two years after You & Me, The Walkmen are returning with Lisbon (out September 14th on Fat Possum). While not a concept album, much on the inspiration for the 11-song collection came from the titular Portuguese city. Produced by John Congleton (Mountain Goats/St. Vincent/Thermals), Lisbon takes its emotional cues from early Elvis and Sun Records, although Frontman Hamilton Leithauser warns (via Pitchfork), “The instrumentation is very simple, and then there’s a very loud vocal and a softish drum. There is a slapback guitar on everything.”
