The Watson Twins
The Watson Twins, perhaps best known for Rabbit Fur Coat, the 2006 album they did backing Jenny Lewis, have announced a new album, DUO, and shared its first single, “Hustle and Shake.” DUO is due out October 12 via The Orchard/Think Indie. Check out “Hustle and Shake” below, followed by the album’s tracklist and cover art, as well as their upcoming tour dates.
The Watson Twins are identical twin sisters Chandra and Leigh Watson. Longtime collaborator Russ Pollard (Everest, Sebadoh) produced the album, which is the first to feature the pair co-writing all the material and singing all parts together. DUO was recorded in Nashville and features eight original songs. Guests include Carl Broemel and Bo Koster (My Morning Jacket), Vanessa Carlton, Mickey Raphael, and The Cactus Blossoms.
Leigh Watson had this to say about the album in a press release: “The backdrop of Nashville inspired a new direction for us. We’d always written songs separately but we wanted to focus on our strength as a duo. The last few years in the studio and on the road allowed us to explore our sound while singing with other artists. Now felt like the right time for us to make a record that reflected the experiences we’ve gathered along the way.”
DUO Tracklist:
1. Hustle and Shake
2. Cry Baby
3. Rolling Thunder
4. Lucky Star
5. Down In The Valley
6. Call To You (feat. The Cactus Blossoms)
