San Francisco pysch-rockers Thee Oh Sees have announced that they will going on hiatus for the foreseeable future. According to Consequence of Sound, frontman John Dwyer broke the news while on stage playing a gig at their hometown’s Great American Music Hall, saying, “This will be the last Oh Sees show for a while, so dig in.” In an interview with SF Weekly the band’s tour manager Annie Southworth confirmed the band’s intentions, explaining that one of the main reasons for the break was that Dwyer is moving to Los Angeles and keyboardist Brigid Dawson is leaving for Santa Cruz. “He’s been living in the Mission on 17th and Valencia, and watching that neighborhood as well as the city transform has been enough for him,” says"Southworth. “He’s over it.”
While Southworth pointed out that the band’s wasn’t breaking up for good, there is some looming uncertainty of when the group would reconvene. “Will be a little hard to continue with all the different locales so who know what is going to happen… Cross fingers, we all are [sure] that it’s not completely over.”
