Tom Waits fans will have a great stocking stuffer this year because the veteran musician is finally releasing a live album documenting his 2008 Glitter and Doom U.S./U.K. trek. Today, Waits’ first ever website fleshed out the minor details.
Glitter and Doom is due November 24th via Anti-, and the CD and vinyl will span two tantalizing discs. Disc one is set up like one evening’s setlist, even though it aggregates 17 songs recorded on ten disparate nights. Disc two is where it gets even more interesting: it consists of 40 minutes of Tom Waits stage banter!
“Tom Tales” is one long track of the gutter-folk artists gonzo sidenotes, bizarre ramblings, ephemeral parables and side-splitting rimshots. The vinyl version doesn’t include “Tom Tales” but buyers will receive a download card so they don’t miss out. The venues on the release range from sold-out shows in Edinburgh, U.K. and Tulsa, OK to Paris, France and Columbus, OH.
Waits’ website is currently offering downloads of the LP’s first eight tracks for free. Click over here to check them out. The aural sneak peek is pretty much what you’d expect from such a release and the keen soundboard mixings don’t pull you out of the moment. Drool over the tracklist below.
