TORRES Shares New Song “Gracious Day”
First New Music Since Being Dropped From Her Label
Jul 16, 2018
TORRES
TORRES (aka MacKenzie Scott) released a new album, Three Futures, last September via 4AD. It was her first album for the iconic label, but in April in a Twitter post Scott announced that 4AD had dropped her for “not being commercially successful enough.” Now she has shared the first song since being dropped, “Gracious Day.” The song opens with a voicemail message and was recorded at home. Check it out below and it’s available to buy now from Bandcamp.
Three Futures was her third album and it definitely felt like Scott had stepped up her game in terms of the production and presentation, so it’s too bad it wasn’t met with better success. TORRES shared videos for Three Futures tracks “Skim” (it was our #1 Song of the Week), title track “Three Futures” (it was also our #1 Song of the Week), and “Helen in the Woods” (which was also one of our Songs of the Week).
