Tune-Yards (previously styled as tUnE-yArDs) have teamed up with Moors (aka actor Lakeith Stanfield) for a new song, “Mango,” shared via a video for the song. Stanfield stars in TV’s Atlanta and the recent film Sorry to Bother You, which Tune-Yards did some of the music for and that is thus how the two connected. The song is out now via Haven Sounds and the video can be watched below.

In a press release, Tune-Yards’ Merrill Garbus had this to say about how the collaboration came together: “We became big Lakeith fans by spending hundreds of hours scoring Sorry To Bother You and watching his incredible acting skills. We met at the Sundance premiere, and Lakeith was really into the score so we talked about collaborating.”

The song was recorded in Tune-Yards’ Oakland, CA studio. Garbus had this to add about the recording: “He had really specific ideas about the track, different characters he wanted to give voice to, and we worked together to keep amping up the weird. Times are weird. Lakeith is reflecting his universes and creating new ones - it’s fascinating and important and we’re grateful and lucky to be a part of amplifying his voice.”

Tune-Yards released a new album, I can feel you creep into my private life, back in January via 4AD.
