After several years of inactivity, TV on the Radio have resurfaced with plans to put out a 20th anniversary reissue of their debut album, Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes, as well as the announcement of their first shows in five years. The reissue includes five bonus tracks and they have shared one of them, “Final Fantasy.” Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes (20th Anniversary Edition) is due out November 15 via Touch & Go. Check out the bonus track below, along with the reissue’s tracklist, and details of the shows.
The band have announced their first shows since 2019, with residencies in New York City, Los Angeles, and London in late November and early December. The lineup for these shows will be Tunde Adebimpe, Kyp Malone, and Jaleel Bunton and those three are the ones featured in the new press photo. A press release states that “founding member Dave Sitek is unable to join the live shows,” but no further details on his absence are given.
“Final Fantasy” is an early demo of what became the Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes song “Bomb Yourself.”
The band’s last album, Seeds, came out a decade ago in 2014.
We first interviewed the band in Issue 5 of Under the Radar in 2003, in honor of their debut EP, Young Liars. That article isn’t online, but you can revisit our 2008 interview with the band.
