Premiere: UV Rays Share Lead Single “Overrated” Off of New EP
The Right Stuff Due Out August 9
Jun 27, 2019 UV Rays
Brooklyn-based indie rock band UV Rays have announced their new EP The Right Stuff, due out August 9, and shared its lead single “Overrated.” We have the premiere. The single takes its cues from ‘90s emo, opening with an in media res beginning that evolves into a explosive chorus that mixes bright vocal harmonies with a pleasingly discordant wall of distorted guitars. Check out the single, single artwork, tracklist, and show flyer for an upcoming gig at Trans Pecos below.
On the making of the track, drummer/vocalist Erica Warner had this to say in a statement to Under the Radar: “‘Overrated’ is special to me. Adrien wrote it and I felt like he captured our pettiness so well. I was laughing out loud the first time I heard the song because I was like, ‘Ooooh my god, yes, this is us..’. I love the relationships I have with my band mates, and we’re genuinely not as selectively welcoming as the song portrays, but like, close enough.”
The Right Stuff is the group’s sophomore EP, coming after their debut EP, Try and Begin, from earlier this year. The group will be supporting Potty Mouth and Colleen Green at Trans-Pecos on July 6th. Tickets can be found here.
