Vampire Weekend Members and Killer Mike to Play Bernie Sanders Rally This Saturday in Iowa City
Foster the People and Dirty Projectors' Dave Longstreth to Also Play

Foster the People
A rally in Iowa City this Saturday in support of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is set to feature members of Vampire Weekend (also featuring Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth), rapper and Run the Jewels member Killer Mike, and Foster the People. The Iowa Caucuses are next Monday, February 1, the first chance the people get to vote on who the Presidential candidates will be, hence the timing and location of the rally. The event is dubbed “Students for Bernie” and takes place at the University of Iowa Field House from 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bernie Sanders will be in attendance and tickets are free.
Were the full Vampire Weekend lineup be performing, it would be their first show without founding member Rostam Batmanglij, who announced yesterday he was leaving the band. But as frontman Ezra Koenig pointed out on Twitter, the performance will feature Koenig, Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Tomson, Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth, comedy duo The Lucas Bros, and the all-female a cappella group University of Iowa’s Hawkapellas. “Bernie can call that Vampire Weekend if he likes,” Koenig joked. Killer Mike has been a very vocal supporter of Sanders and recently interviewed him.
As Twitter user @CarriePotter_ pointed out (as retweeted by Koenig), it’ll be a Vampire Weekend at Bernie’s this Saturday!
performance will be me, CT, Dave Longstreth, @lucasbros & the U of Iowa Hawkapellas - Bernie can call that Vampire Weekend if he likes ????

Bernie isn’t perfect but he DID yell at Alan Greenspan in 2003 and he didn’t vote for the Iraq War https://t.co/0q7t5s0Nlw
