New York’s EZTV released a new album, High in Place, back in late-September via Captured Tracks. Now the album’s “Reason to Run” has a video. It features a cowboy lost in the city, but it’s not quite as dark as Midnight Cowboy, especially when our hero finds a country line dancing club. Chelsea Burcz directs the delightful clip, which you can watch below.

The band had this to say about the video in a press release: “We’re not a huge band. We hope to grow, but, sometimes, like the cowboy in the video, we feel lost, like outsiders. So, why do we live in New York City, where it isn’t always the easiest place to make art? Because we are content to be able to write, record and release our music, to play shows and collaborate with likeminded bands. You can always find pockets of appreciation if you get out there and look. Like at a monthly line dancing party in the NYC’s Chinatown.”

Burcz had this to say about the video: “‘Reason to Run’ struck me as a lonely pop song. I’m attracted to characters wrapped in loneliness, so naturally it was the song I wanted to hear over and over again. The visuals reflect the initial forlorn reaction I had from the song, that lost feeling of trying to force oneself into foreign social situations or environments. We have a happy ending, our character finds acceptance and redemption on the dance floor.”
