The Strokes’ guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. is releasing a new solo album, Francis Trouble, this Friday (March 9) via Red Bull Records. Previously he shared its first single, “Muted Beatings,” performed the song on Conan, and shared a video for “Muted Beatings.” Then he shared two other songs from the album, “Far Away Truths” and “Set to Attack.” Last night he stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden to perform “Set to Attack.” Watch it below.
The album’s title is inspired by the stillborn death of Hammond’s twin brother, Francis. Hammond’s mother miscarried and Francis was too premature to live, but Hammond continued growing in his mother’s womb and was born later.
Hammond had this to say about the album in a previous press release: “What the music says may be serious, but as a medium it should not be questioned, analyzed or taken too seriously. I think it should be tarted up, made into a character, a parody of itself. The music is the mask the message wears and I, the performer, am the message.”
At the same time, Hammond’s Strokes bandmate Julian Casablancas is releasing a new album with his side-project The Voidz, with their new album, Virtue, due out March 30 via Cult Records/RCA.
