Andrew Bird has been doing a series of shows from his living room called “Live From the Great Room” that he’s been posting to his Facebook page. Now a video of Bird and Matt Berninger (The National, EL VY) covering the Lou Reed classic “Perfect Day” has surfaced. It was filmed back in August and the cover includes Bird on acoustic guitar and violin and Berninger on vocals. There’s also some whistling, and it’s all quite lovely. At the end the duo wonder what happens at the end of that perfect day. “Perfect Day” was on Reed’s stone cold classic Transformer (from 1972), but also made a notable appearance on 1996’s Trainspotting soundtrack. Listen below, followed by Reed’s original.
