For the past four years granola producers Nature’s Valley have partnered with the National Parks Conservation Association to raise money for important preservation efforts within the country’s national parks. Having already brought in $1.8 million to preserve our federally protected public lands, the partnership’s most recent project is the Quietest Show on Earth, an off-the-grid concert and web event to raise awareness for the parks.
Originally scheduled Oct. 8 at Joshua Tree National Park, the inaugural concert was briefly put in jeopardy in the wake of the recent government shutdown. Forced to think quickly, organizers thankfully secured a deal with the Mojave Desert Land Trust. Performing at the event were Andrew Bird and singer/songwriter Tift Merritt, who were caught on camera by Esquire performing Bird’s “First Song” from his 2003 album Weather Systems. Click below to watch. Complete footage of the performance will supposedly find its way online later this month.
