Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio is releasing his debut solo album today (September 18) via Glassnote. He’s going simply under his last name and the album is titled The Names after a Don DeLillo novel from 1982 of the same name. Last night he performed his single, and definite album highlight (and perhaps one of our favorite songs of the year thus far), “Sister of Pearl,” on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The song translated faithfully to a live setting, with Baio pulling off the song’s charming vocal inflections and also attempting a few of the dance moves he showed off in the song’s fun video (which featured Baio dancing around London, where he’s based these days).
