New York-based trio Beach Fossils are releasing a new album, Somersault, on June 2 via Bayonet. Previously they had shared the album’s lead single, “This Year.” Now they have offered up a video for another track from the album, “Saint Ivy.” New York based filmmakers Joey Chriqui and Milah Libin directed the video, which is very much an NYC affair, as it features artists from the city. The video includes dancers who “have all grown up through the NYC school system,” including Brooklyn-based drag queen Merrie Cherry, along with ballerinas, street dancers, and more. The song itself is very lush, featuring strings, piano, and flute. Watch it below, followed by the band’s tour dates and “This Year.”

Directors Chriqui and Libin had this to say about the video in a press release: “In uncertain times, we turn to New York City as a reassuring look into the true diversity of this country. We set out to create a vision of NYC that demonstrates a more honest and nuanced understanding of what it means to live here. This video represents the less visible places and characters that exist in beautiful harmony both in this city, and in America.”

Beach Fossils are also encouraging fans to donate to two arts programs that are facing funding cuts due to the Trump administration, the National Endowment for the Arts (donate here) and Center for Arts Education NYC (donate here). The press release states: “They want to make sure this video is a platform for people to be informed about the ability to speak out against the defunding of these programs, as well as collect any possible donations for their programs.”

Beach Fossils Tour Dates:

Sat. April 8 - Santa Ana, CA @ When We Were Young Festival
Fri. July 21 - Sun. July 23 - Los Angeles, CA @ FYF Festival
