Sep 25, 2013 Big Black Delta By Mike Hilleary

Musical artist Jonathan Bates, a.k.a. Big Black Delta, has premired a new music video for his self-titled album’s latest single “Love You This Summer.” Directed by Nicolás Prados the unique visual is made up entirely of footage taken from Terrence Malik’s 1973 film Badlands, starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek.

According to Prados the video “is an effort to express the need people have to escape our everyday realities and live an adventure. It seeks to echo some of Freud’s writings concerning civilization, and how humans tend to idealize nature, forgetting its violent essence, but more importantly, ignoring the frustration and anxiety inside us that provokes this discontent. The video addresses escapism and tries to convey how violence is part of human nature, laying beneath our fantasies and actions.”
