Fred Armisen and Bill Hader have a fake classic 1970s soft rock band, Blue Jean Committee. They were the subject of the season finale of Armisen and Hader’s new faux documentary show on IFC, Documentary Now! Last month they also released an actual seven-song EP, Catalina Breeze, via Drag City. Today they have shared a video for the EP’s title track. Rhys Thomas and Alex Buono directed the purposefully retro clip, which is a convincing 1970s video featuring “performance” footage and in-the-studio shots, along with behind-the-scenes goofing around images. Armisen and Hader are also smart to play it mainly straight, which makes the whole thing even funnier. Check it out below.
