All this week the Late Show with David Letterman is having its nightly music guests take part in a special series of Beatles covers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band’s debut appearance on Ed Sullivan, now the namesake of New York theater that hosts Letterman’s late night program. Last night Broken Bells, the duel side-project of Danger Mouse and The Shins’ James Mercer, kicked things off with a rendition of “And I Love Her,” originally featured on A Hard Day’s Night.
