Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES last month shared a new version of their song “Bury It” that featured additional vocals from Paramore’s Hayley Williams. Now this version of the song has a video. The animated clip was created by acclaimed comic book artist Jamie McKelvie (Phonogram, The Wicked + The Divine) and animated by Mighty Nice. It features CHVRCHES and Williams on a rooftop as they test out their telekinesis powers and then fly high above the city. Watch it below.
CHVRCHES’ Iain Cook had this to say about the video in a press release: “Ever since Jamie McKelvie began working with us on CHVRCHES poster designs, we have been discussing ways in which we could further our creative relationship. His work on comics such as Phonogram, Young Avengers and most recently The Wicked + The Divine have cemented his reputation as one of the most unique and exciting artists.
McKelvie had this to say: “Music has always had a big influence on my work, and making a music video seemed like a natural progression of that. Getting the opportunity to work on this video with such great collaborators - CHVRCHES, Hayley Williams, and Mighty Nice - meant the reality turned out even better than I’d imagined.”
CHVRCHES released their well-received second album, Every Open Eye, last year via Glassnote (it was #9 on Under the Radar‘s Top 100 Albums of 2015 list). CHVRCHES were on the cover of one of our print issues last year and you can read the in-depth 8-page 5,600-word cover story feature on the band here.
