The National’s frontman Matt Berninger has teamed up with former Menomena member Brent Knopf (who also records as Ramona Falls) for the new project EL VY. The duo will be releasing their debut album as EL VY, Return to the Moon, on October 30 via 4AD. Last night Berninger and Knopf made their U.S. TV debut on Conan by performing the album’s title track (whose full title is “Return to the Moon (Political Song for Didi Bloome to Sing, With Crescendo)”). Andy Stack from Wye Oak joined them on drums. Watch it below.

Previously the duo had shared the lyric videos for “Return to the Moon (Political Song for Didi Bloome to Sing, With Crescendo)” and “I’m the Man to Be,” and performed “No Time to Crank the Sun” in a session at Studio Brussels.
