Watch First Interview with Eagles of Death Metal Following Paris Terror Attacks
Video Interview with Vice
Nov 25, 2015 Eagles of Death Metal
Eagles of Death Metal have granted their first interview following the Paris terror attacks. The band (including Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme) sat down with Vice founder Shane Smith for a 25-minute video interview, which you can watch below.
Eagles of Death Metal were playing the Le Bataclan venue on November 13 in Paris when ISIS terrorists stormed it, shot into the crowd, and took hostages, in what instantly became a tragic international news story. All of the members of the band survived the attack, but their merch manager Nick Alexander was one of the around 89 killed in the attack. Eagles of Death Metal have since cancelled all their upcoming shows and returned to America.
In the video the band, still visibly shaken, describe the events of the night and how they escaped the venue. At first the whole band minus Josh Homme are interviewed. Homme wasn’t actually at the show, as he doesn’t tour with the band. Then Homme joins the full group. Finally Hughes and Homme are interviewed separately. Be warned that the video does include brief fan footage of the beginnings of the attack. Hughes talks about searching for his girlfriend, Tuesday, and being shot at by one of the terrorists, among other things, and breaks down in tears several times. Watch the heartbreaking video below.
