The CW has had huge success with its DC Comics adaptations. Arrow has just finished its third season and last year The Flash was spun off from Arrow to record ratings for the TV network. So it’s no surprise that another spinoff is coming, this one featuring characters from both Arrow and The Flash. It’s called DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and the first trailer for it has just been released.

In DC’s Legends of Tomorrow a team of heroes and villains is brought together by a time traveler from the future named Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill, aka Rory from Doctor Who) to combat an evil immortal named Vandal Savage. The team includes Arrow characters The Atom/Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh, Superman Returns) and White Canary/Sara Lance (Caity Lotz); The Flash characters Firestorm/Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber, Alias), Captain Cold/Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller, Prison Break), and Heatwave/Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell, Prison Break); and new additions Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renée) and Jay Jackson (Franz Drameh). Sara Lance previously went under the name Black Canary, but her character was killed early in Arrow‘s third season. Obviously they’ve found a way to bring her back, probably via the Lazarus Pit. It seems as though both Arrow and The Flash will show up in the first episode at least.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Sarah Schechter, who, in various configurations, are also involved in The Flash, Arrow, and the new CBS show Supergirl. It is slated to premiere on The CW in early 2016. Check out the trailer below, followed by a behind the scenes featurette on the show.
