Wye Oak frontwoman Jenn Wasner released her debut full-length album under her Flock of Dimes solo project, If You See Me, Say Yes, last September via Partisan. Now she has shared a video for “Everything Is Happening Today.” It features Wasner singing the song with various computer animated effects around her. Flock of Dimes have also announced some tour dates with Sylvan Esso, who just announced their new album today. Check out the video (via A.V. Club) and tour dates below.
Wasner had this to say about the video in an interview with Medium: “I can’t lie—I’ve spent a lot of time worrying that I shouldn’t share this video, for fear that the vision of unabashed joy that it presents has become irrelevant, almost inappropriate. In the end, I decided that I would feel much worse if I didn’t. In spite of this swell of fear and hate that has permeated our lives, I think it’s important to continue to show ourselves to the world, to bring our ideas to life and allow ourselves to be vulnerable.”
Wasner had already previously shared the album’s first single, “Semaphore,” as well as a video for it, which was followed by the audio for “Everything Is Happening Today.” Wasner wrote, performed, and self-produced the album. Mickey Freeland in Baltimore and Aaron Roche in NYC also helped with the recording process. John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen) mixed If You See Me, Say Yes in Dallas. In 2016 Wye Oak surprise-released the excellent Tween, a mini-album on Merge.
