Coinciding with the forthcoming arrival of their newest album Pedestrian Verse indie rock group Frightened Rabbit have debuted a music documentary short titled Here: The Highlands Film.

Following the band during their Highlands Tour in their native Scotland, filmmakers Hand Held Cine Club say, “Most of the time when you’re watching a documentary or video diary of a band on tour, it’s the same old thing. This usually comprises a band on a bus, in a dressing room, complaining in a hotel or generally spinning some quasi philosophical nonsense in a corridor at a venue after an “awesome show.” Shooting the Highlands film with Frightened Rabbit was so far removed from this culture, so much more. Being surrounded by endless super vistas wherever you looked and being the solitary vehicle on a very long and winding road, punctuated with packed out shows full of actual music fans (as opposed to an unhappy hipster crowd stood twirling their moustaches in unison in the corner of a city venue, neurotically staring down at their iPhone as the battery drains…) made it a very real experience. It wasn’t about marketing, or viral this and that, or ramming the new single down people’s throats. It was about a part of the world that is like no other, with a band who cared to go there and the people who loved them being there.”

According to Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison, “It had been an ambition of mine since I started the band to take to Scotland’s outposts to play shows. The opportunity took its time to arise, so when it did, it felt silly not to document the whole thing in some way. We all felt that the country itself should be the lead in this film, and Scotland did not disappoint. Wonderful people, breathtaking scenery and damn good shows. I feel lucky to have this film to remember it by.”
