Returning to the place that finally granted them their long, sought-after breakthrough moment, Baltimore’s Future Islands were welcomed as the musical guest on David Letterman’s Late Show last night where they performed their brand new single, “The Chase.”
“This song goes out to the people of Baltimore. Let us not discount their voices,” frontman Samuel T. Herring said at the start, obviously referencing the recent riots in his adoptive hometown.
Recently recorded at Abbey Road Studios as a Record Store Day release, the track has now been made available digitally on iTunes, paired with another new song titled “Haunted By You.” The B-side cut was recorded in Austin last month and produced by Spoon’s Jim Eno. Vinyl copies of the single will be released on June 30, limited to just 2,400 copies.
