Red Nose Day, an annual charity special airing on the BBC and set up by Comic Relief, has been a fixture of British television for decades. Basically various comedians get together and have a good time and raise money for charity. Various skits are pre-tapped, but a lot of it is live too. Writer Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually, Blackadder) and comedian Lenny Henry created the telethon in 1985 to raise money for Ethiopian famine victims. This Thursday the concept comes to America with a special airing on NBC starting at 8 PM (7 PM Central).
One of the skits will be “Game of Thrones: The Musical,” which features Tyrion Lannister himself, Peter Dinklage, and music from Coldplay. Watch the teaser trailer below, in which Dinklage boasts outliving several other important characters on the show (spoilers for those of you who are far behind on Game of Thrones and don’t want to know who dies in various seasons). And go to NBC’s Red Nose Day site for info on the special and how to donate.
