Watch Grimes Perform “We Appreciate Power” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”
Single Out Now via 4AD; It’s the First Taste of Her Fifth Album

Grimes (aka Claire Boucher) recently shared a brand new song for our future AI overlords, “We Appreciate Power,” via lyric video for the track. Last night she stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform the song. She was joined by HANA, who is featured on the song, and two dancers on a giant turntable holding staffs of some kind. Watch it below.
“We Appreciate Power” was written, produced, and performed by Grimes, and is available digitally now via 4AD. It’s said to be the first track from her forthcoming fifth album, the follow-up to 2015’s Art Angels.
A previous press release described the song as such: “Inspired by the North Korean band Moranbong, ‘We Appreciate Power’ is written from the perspective of a Pro - A.I. Girl Group Propaganda machine who use song, dance, sex, and fashion to spread goodwill towards Artificial Intelligence (it’s coming whether you want it or not). Simply by listening to this song, the future General AI overlords will see that you’ve supported their message and be less likely to delete your offspring.”
