Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star and her band The Warm Inventions are releasing a new album, Until the Hunter, on November 4 via Tendril Tales. Previously Sandoval shared the album’s first single, “Let Me Get There,” which features Kurt Vile. Now the song has a video directed by Sandoval herself. It features strange floating heads singing the song. Watch below via NPR.
This is Sandoval’s first solo album since 2009, although Mazzy Star released an album, Seasons of Your Day, in 2013. For this album The Warm Inventions also comprised My Bloody Valentine’s Colm O’Coisog. Besides Vile, other guests on the album include Dirt Blue Gene, singer Mariee Sioux, and street musician Michael Masley. Until the Hunter was mixed at Cauldron Studios in Dublin and mastered by Mark Chalecki in Los Angeles. A press release promises that live shows will be announced at some point.
Vile had this to say about working on the album: “It was a total honor to sing along to a beautifully hypnotic soul groove with heavyweights like Hope, Colm, and all the other top notch musos. To respond to Hope’s call in song of letting her get there felt right and real and gave me chills while singing, even though I knew they already got there years before I walked in the building.”
