Japandroids
Japandroids released a new album, Near to the Wild Heart of Life, last Friday via ANTI-. Previously the band shared a short announcement video, the album’s title track, and “No Known Drink or Drug.” Last night the band stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform “Near to the Wild Heart of Life.” Watch their energetic performance below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.
The album was written throughout 2014 and 2015 in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City and mainly recorded by Jesse Gander (who had previously recorded both Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock) at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, BC in 2015. If you preorder the album you get a limited edition 7-inch single with “Near to the Wild Heart of Life” on the A-side and a cover of Talking Heads’ “Love → Building on Fire” on the B-side. The album is the follow-up to 2012’s Celebration Rock and their first for ANTI- (previously they were on Polyvinyl).
