Japanese Breakfast (aka Michelle Zauner) released her sophomore album, Soft Sounds From Another Planet, back in July via Dead Oceans. Now she has stopped by NPR’s offices to perform a Tiny Desk Concert. For the uninitiated, Tiny Desk Concerts are stripped down sets recorded at the desk of Bob Boilen, the host of NPR’s All Songs Considered. Zauner performed three Soft Sound songs with the Rogue Collective, a DC-based string section. Watch the performance below, followed by her upcoming tour dates.

Previously she shared a video for the album’s first single, “Machinist,” the audio for the lush ballad “Boyish,” and the video for “Road Head.” She also released a RPG browser video game entitled Japanese Breakquest and shared a video for “The Body is a Blade.” Zauner also recently directed the video for Jay Som’s “The Bus Song.”

The album is the follow-up to 2016’s well-received debut, Psychopomp. A previous press release said Soft Sounds From Another Planet “is a work of self-reflection that looks out at the cosmos in search of healing, finding inspiration in science fiction, outer space, and the Mars One Project.”
