Lewis Spoofs Her Formal Child Actor Days, Video Also Features Zosia Mamet and Leo Fitzpatrick

Jenny Lewis’ fantastic new video for “She’s Not Me” does an amazing job sending up Lewis’ previous life as a child actor and she’s got some great guest stars in on the joke. The clip starts with Lewis in jail and the headline: “Former Child Actor Arrested.” Then we see Lewis and friends recreate her guest appearance on The Golden Girls as a mean Girl Scout who stole Rose’s teddy bear, her role as Shelley Long’s daughter in Troop Beverly Hills, her part as Fred Savage’s love interest in the kids video game drama The Wizard, and others. Said friends are Fred Armisen, Feist, Saturday Night Live‘s Vanessa Bayer (whose Sound Advice web series Lewis appeared on yesterday), Girls’ Zosia Mamet, and Leo Fitzpatrick (Kids, Bully, Storytelling). Oh, and Lewis directed the video herself. It’s nice to see that she’s so adept at poking fun at herself.
“She’s Not Me” is taken from Lewis’ 2014 album The Voyager. Check out the video below and read our recent interview with Lewis on the creation of the album.
