Watch: Joanna Newsom Visits “Portlandia”
Big Harp in a Tiny Trunk
Feb 14, 2012
Joanna Newsom
This week on the newest episode of Portlandia, beloved, quirky songwriter Joanna Newsom shows up to provide a few laughs. In the featured sketch Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein star as part of free-love group of hippies who after enjoying themselves with a etheral jam session in a sunlit field, try to fit Newsom’s gigantic harp in the trunk of a small hatchback. Lots of crunching naturally ensues. For those that look close enough, you might even get a peak at a particular flower child by the name of Robin Pecknold (we have a strong reason to believe this whole bit took place around the time of Under the Radar‘s 10th Anniversary photo shoot).
