Johnny Marr
A few weeks back former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr dropped a bombshell that he would be releasing his debut solo LP early next year. This morning Marr has started filling in some the blanks concerning the proposed work, titled The Messenger. Recorded in Manchester and Berlin, and mastered at Abbey Road, the record will be distributed on Feb. 26 on Sire/ADA. Including songs called “I Want the Heartbeat,” “The Right Thing Right,” “Word Starts Attack,” “European Me,” and “Upstart,” the record will span 12 tracks.
According to Marr “The underlying idea of the record is my experience of living in Britain. “When you’re away from your home city you’re more compelled to write about it. Growing up in the city influences you, and as I’ve grown older I’ve continued to see beauty, energy and stories in it.”
