Next month on Nov. 29 actor Idris Elba will take on the monumental task of portraying Nelson Mandela in a new biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Over the weekend a trailer for the forthcoming film premiered, including a brand new song from U2 titled “Ordinary Love.” The track is the band’s first piece of new music since the release of their last album No Line on the Horizon in 2009, and was written specifically for the movie’s soundtrack. In related news, U2 bassist Adam Claton recently made an appearance on the Irish radio station 98 FM (via Rolling Stone), revealing that the band is expected to finish up their 13th studio album next month. “We’re in the studio,” said Clayton. “We’re trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas.” According to Clayton the material is “a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years. It’s a combination of those two things and it’s a really interesting hybrid.”
