M. Ward is releasing a new album, More Rain, on March 4 via Merge. Previously he shared the album’s first single, “Girl From Conejo Valley.” Now the song has a video. Ward and Carlos Forster directed the strange clip, which features a parolee, a picnicking couple, rabbits, helicopters, bikers, police cars, and an underwater guitar solo. A press release says “the track is a nostalgic trot through people he used to know and a place he used to be,” which might explain things a little bit. Check it out below, followed by Ward’s upcoming tour dates.

More Rain is Ward’s eighth album (not including his collaborations with Zooey Deschanel as She & Him nor the album with supergroup Monsters of Folk) and is the follow-up to 2012’s A Wasteland Companion. The album features Neko Case, R.E.M.‘s Peter Buck, K.D. Lang, The Secret Sisters, and Joey Spampinato of NRBQ.
