Matt and Kim have shared a new video for “Let’s Run Away.” It was shot using the Centriphone (or CentriPro) technique, which basically involves putting a GoPro camera on the end of a fishing line and spinning it around you and then slowing down the image to give an effect similar to how The Matrix movies did it. The band self-directed and shot the video themselves and you can watch the very cool results below, followed by the duo’s tour dates.

The song is taken from their EP, We Were the Weirdos, which is out now via FADER Label. The video features fun shots of Matt and Kim in Brooklyn, on the street, on rooftops, as they throw water balloons at each other and ride a bike, among other things.

The band’s Matt Johnson explained the video in a press release: “A wooden coat hanger, some fishing wire, and a GoPro… that’s what we used to shoot our latest music video. No we haven’t been watching a lot of MacGyver (I mean that dude could have made a CAR out of those 3 things) BUT we DID see the camera technique discovered earlier this year by Nicolas Vuignier while skiing which he coined “Centriphone.” If you don’t know about it, think of it like a poor man’s version of that trick in The Matrix movies where the camera spins around Keanu Reeves and he’s all like… ‘Woah.’ We had such a great time shooting this… Just the two of us with a camera on a clothes hanger, running around Brooklyn like a couple of idiots.”
