In 2014 soul legend and civil rights activist Mavis Staples had a big hometown concert in Chicago that featured a slew of special guests. Among them were Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, who joined Staples on stage for a cover of Talking Heads’ 1983 song “Slippery People.” Fan video surfaced at the time, but now an official video of the performance has been released. AXS TV will air the concert this Sunday (April 16) and it’s being released on June 2 as a CD/DVD set by Blackbird Presents. Check out the video below, followed by Talking Heads’ original.

Back in January Arcade Fire released a brand new song, “I Give You Power,” that featured the guest vocals of Staples. Its release the day before President Donald Trump’s inauguration was probably no accident, especially as all proceeds from the song are being donated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Staples also recently guested on a new Gorillaz song, “Let Me Out.”
