This weekend on Record Store Day MGMT will release a special cassette single featuring an unreleased track called “Alien Days.” To promote the new track Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden have premiered a psychedelic clip featuring stop-motion and sock puppets. While you could just write off the 50-second clip as a bizarre advertisement, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to find out that this snippet of footage is actually part of a really strange but awesome music video scheduled for release down the road. Well, it was only the video that has caught my attention about this song. But then it does feel so stupid after the stop-motion part. It would have been really great if they did the whole thing in stop motion.
