Moby released a new album, Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt, at the start of the month via Mute. Last night he stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform “This Wild Darkness” with a choir. Watch the performance below.

When the album was announced he shared a video for its first single, “Like a Motherless Child,” which was later followed by a video for another new song from the album, “Mere Anarchy,” and a video for “This Wild Darkness.”

Moby had this to say about the song in a previous press release: “The world is a baffling place, full of confusion and darkness. ‘This Wild Darkness’ is essentially an existential dialog between me and the gospel choir - me talking about my confusion, the choir answering with longing and hope.”

A previous press release described Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt as such: “The album is a glowing tapestry exploring spirituality, individuality and the brokenness of humanity and finds Moby returning to his orchestral, soul, trip-hop and gospel roots.”

In the not too distant past Moby released two more rock orientated albums credited to Moby and the Void Pacific Choir: 2016’s These Systems Are Failing and this year’s More Fast Songs About the Apocalypse.
