Watch Natalie Portman and Jon Hamm in the First Trailer for Astronaut Drama “Lucy in the Sky”
Noah Hawley Directed Film Due Out October 4 via Fox Searchlight

Natalie Portman
Lucy in the Sky is not about The Beatles, although its title is no doubt inspired by their song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” The film is also loosely inspired by the true-life tale of astronaut Lisa Nowak, who was charged with the attempted kidnapping of U.S. Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman due to Nowak’s romantic involvement with fellow astronaut William Oefelein. Natalie Portman instead plays an astronaut named Lucy Cola and Jon Hamm plays astronaut Mark Goodwin. The film is the big screen directorial debut of Noah Hawley, who has made his mark on the small screen creating/writing the likes of Fargo and Legion. Now the film’s first full trailer has been shared and you can watch it below (listen out for an instrumental version of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”).
Lucy in the Sky is due out October 4 via Fox Searchlight, but first it premieres at the Toronto Film Festival next month. Brian C. Brown and Elliott DiGuiseppi wrote the screenplay. The film also stars Dan Stevens (the star of Hawley’s Legion), Ellen Burstyn, Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, and Tig Notaro.
