Watch Neon Indian, Kristin Kontrol, Holy Ghost!, and Friends Cover Prince’s “Pop Life”
R.I.P. Prince
May 23, 2016 Hannah Cohen
Prince passed away at his home last month and the Prince tributes and covers have been fittingly constant ever since. Now Neon Indian‘s Alan Palomo has teamed up with various musicians to cover Prince’s “Pop Life,” a track from Prince’s 1985 album Around the World in a Day. The lineup includes Holy Ghost!, Kristin Kontrol (aka Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls), Ejecta (aka Young Ejecta), Hannah Cohen, Xenia Rubbings, Adeline from Escort, and Midnight Magic and they have shot a video of all of them covering the song in the studio. It looks like they had a ton of fun and their version is as funky as the original. Watch it below via Pitchfork.
Feel free to read our 2015 print magazine interview with Neon Indian (as well as our bonus digital magazine Q&A with Palomo) and our recent review of Holy Ghost!‘s new Crime Cutz EP. And pick up our current print magazine issue to read our interview with Kristin Kontrol.
