Watch: New Order Mashes Up King Arthur with Modern Times in “Restless” Video
Music Complete Due Out September 25 via Mute

New Order
On September 25 New Order are releasing Music Complete, their first studio album in a decade, first for their new label Mute, and first not to feature founding member Peter Hook (but it sees the return of founding member Gillian Gilbert). Recently they shared the album’s first single, “Restless,” which is also the album’s opening track. Now the song has a video. Spanish filmmakers NYSU directed the clip, which begins with a blood oath and proceeds to mash-up King Arthur imagery with modern times. Various people try to pull the sword from the stone, a girl strips off different black T-shirts featuring the song’s lyrics until she’s topless, there’s scenes in a club, but also on horseback, and at one point there’s a banquet of junk food.
“Restless” doesn’t feature any of the album’s high profile guest vocalists: Brandon Flowers, Iggy Pop, and La Roux’s Elly Jackson. Instead Bernard Sumner takes lead vocals on a song that’s seems to be about always wanting more in our over-stimulated modern world. The song is available digitally now, with a full remix package to be released on October 9 (details are still forthcoming on that).
Check out the “Restless” video below, followed by the band’s upcoming European tour dates. Also be sure to pick up Under the Radar’s current print issue to read our interview with New Order’s Bernard Sumner about Music Complete.
